Sometimes, women find themselves on the ground, with their attacker sitting on top, in a mount position. It’s easy to feel helpless in this position, but you don’t have to anymore.

If some a-hole has the nads to do this to you, then it’s time for you to get mean, and play nasty, not nice.

This video does a great job breaking down exactly how you can escape this particular mount. (Don’t get distracted by the good-looking guy with the easy-on-the-ears accent.)

This series of techniques might seem a bit more technical, but with a little practice, you’ll get the hang of it. And, once you do, you’ll realize it’s all common sense, basic movement.

What are you waiting for? Grab a partner and practice! (You can practice the hip explosion portion alone. You also can practice basic hip escapes alone. Google that. It’s sometimes called “shrimping.” It’s basic jiu-jitsu.)

Note: As with every technique I post, 1) you need to practice with a willing adult participant, 2) I don’t endorse any of the sites or teachers, and 3) you need to be aware of and know the self-defense laws in your state. The purpose of these posts is to provide you with information about techniques I would use in certain situations. If you really want to become an expert in self-defense, then you need to find a dojang or dojo. If you have questions about how to identify a good dojang or dojo, post your questions in the comments.
