All right ladies, this is one of those chokes some men like to do. It’s a power move that, even when the guy really didn’t mean to do it, can kill you. (Can’t you just hear the wimpy little shit, now? The police catch his sorry ass, and he whines about how it was an accident.) This video does a good job breaking it down, and keeping it real. I like the immediate follow-up strikes to the head with her elbow (I mean, it’s right there. You should be hitting the shit out of it.) The body blows are also good. In Krav Maga, you focus on hitting vital areas, repeatedly. Bottom line: Base, trap, strike. Get away. As with all the techniques I post, you need to practice, and be aware of local self-defense laws.  – Dez

  • Thanks to the folks at Fit and Fearless for sharing this video with the world.  My investigations keep me too busy to create training videos, so it’s nice to find useful videos demonstrating practical techniques. I don’t have experience with their training site, and can’t speak to their style, approach, or general philosophy.

Note: As with every technique I post, 1) you need to practice with a willing adult participant, 2) I don’t endorse any of the sites or teachers, and 3) you need to be aware of and know the self-defense laws in your state. The purpose of these posts is to provide you with information about techniques I would use in certain situations. If you really want to become an expert in self-defense, then you need to find a dojang or dojo. If you have questions about how to identify a good dojang or dojo, post your questions in the comments.
